Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 860). Those who were baptized at an early age and those baptized as adults without laying on of hands by a bishop are expected to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism, and receive laying on of hands by a bishop (BCP, p. 412). Adults baptized with the laying on of hands by a bishop are considered to be confirmed. Learn more here.

Calvary has different options for preparing for this sacramental rite:

This I Believe: Affirmations & Confirmations  | Wednesdays, Oct. 25 – Dec. 6 | 6:15 p.m.  | Orgill Room

Want to dive a little deeper into what it means to be an Episcopalian? Interested in the particular expression of a faithful life here at Calvary? Join Calvary’s clergy, staff, and our Bishop for a six-session conversation about worship, the Bible, some church history, and everything in between. This class will culminate in the opportunity to be Confirmed when the Bishop makes her annual visitation on Sunday, December 10. All are welcome regardless of how long you’ve been connected with Calvary. The class will not meet on Nov. 22.
