Calvary welcomes AA participants to this "open" meeting at noon Monday through Fridays in the Gospel Rooms. Coffee is available. Alcoholics Anonymous is an international mutual aid fellowship with the stated purpose of enabling its members to "stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety." AA is nonprofessional, self-supporting, and apolitical. Its only membership requirement is a desire to stop drinking.

Holy Eucharist is offered in-person in the Calvary chancel on Wednesdays and features a reflection by one of our priests. The church doors open at 11:45 and close at noon. It is not necessary to make a reservation. Distancing protocols are the same as for Sunday morning worship.

You may enjoy your dinner physically distanced in the Mural Room or you may take it to Calvary Park and enjoy it outside.

The youngest choir of the parish is the St. Cecilia Choir. They sing periodically at the 10:30 a.m. worship service and at special services. Using a variety of activities, the choristers learn to use their voices by means of hymns and other sacred songs. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:00. Volunteers serve breakfast to 200 homeless and poor neighbors at Calvary each Sunday morning. Using physical distancing in the alley outside our doors, those experiencing homelessness receive a warm pre-packaged breakfast and coffee to go. Access to items in Calvary's clothes closet is also available.

Holy Eucharist, Rite I

Rite I, a traditional spoken service with a sermon and Holy Communion that includes organ music without singing. It offers a reflective and meditative mood appropriate to the early morning. The liturgy is Rite One from The Book of Common Prayer and retains much of the language used in the 1559 Elizabethan prayer book. This service ends before 8:45 a.m. and many of the early morning worshipers gather for the parish breakfast which follows in the Great Hall.

Reparations: One Seminary’s Approach

In September 2019, VTS announced the creation of an endowment dedicated to the payment of reparations, and the intent to research, uncover, and recognize Black people who labored on-campus during slavery, Reconstruction, and segregation under Jim Crow laws.
