Grief Support: Walking Through the Valley

Tuesday evenings, 6:15 – 7:30, Corner Room

Grief changes everything. Whether your loss is recent or long ago, you are not alone. Led by Robyn Banks, with occasional guest professionals, this group will provide a space to share our stories, reflect theologically and emotionally, and gently hold both sorrow and hope. We’ll explore the many faces of grief, the presence of God in our pain, and how we live into love as we continue on the way. This is a commitment class, and participants are encouraged to commit to the series. No meeting on October 14

Education for Ministry

Wednesday mornings | 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Wednesday evenings | 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Education for Ministry Classic (EfM) invites participants into small, mentored groups that provide the framework for understanding life and shaping actions as Christian faith is deepened through studying the Hebrew Bible, New Testament, church history, and Christian theology, along with online resources, including multimedia content.  It’s a way to learn more about what we believe and why we hold those beliefs.

      • A group to bring questions and doubts to for thoughtful, respectful discussion.
      • A program for deepening knowledge of scripture and learning more about the church and theology.
      • An exploration of how ancient stories relate to our everyday lives.
      • A way to think about how we are called to live out our baptismal commitments.
      • A caring, supportive community.

EfM seminar groups offer a four-year curriculum that enables participants to engage, respond, and reflect. This year, Sewanee has added a new option called Wide Angle, which is a single year of EfM with its own material covering the Classic topics.

Learn more about EfM.

This is a commitment class, and participants are encouraged to commit to the program from September through May.

Sacred Ground meets for eleven sessions on specific dates throughout the fall, to be determined by the group. This is a commitment class, and participants are encouraged to remain committed to the group for its duration.
