Organ Update: A Gradual Crescendo

The organ builders have been back this week, busy installing some renovated pipework which has nearly doubled the size of the instrument we’ve had since January!

You’ll hear some unique solo reed stops once again (English horn and French horn) and notice the swell shades moving again. The shades give us more volume control as they open and close. Behind them lies the return of some of the treasure trove of pipework that is crucial in accompanying the choir; this includes the foundation and gentler stops of the swell division. The fiery reeds in the swell also returned, giving a grand, rich growl to the instrument, especially wonderful in hymn accompanying. We’re still waiting for the remaining half of the organ; thus begins a gradual crescendo back to the full organ – stay tuned!
