Novella Smith Arnold Cromer, 86, a longtime Calvary parishioner, died on Friday, August 1.
Novella devoted her life to serving others. At Calvary, she administered both the Criminal Justice Ministry, supporting prisoners and their families, and the Street Ministry, which provided resources and care for the homeless and urban poor. She also led the AIDS Burial Service, ensuring dignified funerals for those without means, and served as a chaplain to children and to those in prison. Through each of these ministries, Novella extended compassion, dignity, and hope to countless lives.
A celebration of Novella’s life will be held at Calvary on Friday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow. The service will also be live-streamed on Calvary’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
