Worship and Formation Times for the Fall

This spring, Calvary’s vestry named its 2021 focus as “Welcome to Calvary.” Whether you and your family have been part of Calvary for generations or you walked in for the first time last Sunday, no one is being welcomed back to an unchanged church. We all need to be welcomed anew after the year we’ve just lived through. So the vestry is working creatively on a variety of ways to help all people experience Christian welcome at the corner of 2nd and Adams.

One response will be a slightly different Sunday schedule for the fall:

6:30 a.m. – Community Breakfast

8 a.m. – Holy Eucharist, Rite I

8:45 a.m. – Parish Breakfast

9:15 a.m. – Christian Formation

10:30 a.m. – Holy Eucharist, Rite II

11:30 a.m. – Coffee Hour

While no particular schedule meets all needs, the schedule above helps our work of welcome in several important ways. Having Parish Breakfast and Christian Formation between services gives people who attend either service the opportunity to fellowship and attend classes together. And, after a year of being apart, having ample time for Coffee Hour after the 10:30 a.m. service provides time and space for old friends to reconnect and for visitors and newcomers to be greeted and welcomed.

The 10 a.m. worship service will move to 10:30 a.m. beginning on Founders Day at the Metal Museum on Sunday, August 8. And watch for a couple of 9:15 forums in August, followed by a full slate of Christian Formation offerings for all ages beginning on September 12.

Grace & peace,

Scott Walters,
