Information Officer Fred Goldsmith Retires

For more than 25 years Fred Goldsmith has been the smiling face of Calvary to almost everyone who came through our doors during the week. For children being dropped off at Calvary Place or neighbors needing help making a connection or a utility payment, for flower guild folks or people coming in for pastoral care or midweek worship or to volunteer in the kitchen or clothes closet, and for the thousands upon thousands who came in through our alley doors for Lenten Preaching and Waffle Shop, Fred was a faithful, welcoming presence, in a bright plaid shirt and even brighter socks most days.

For countless people, Fred was the first way Calvary made God’s love visible to them. Fred is officially retiring as Calvary’s Information Officer. I hope you’ll join me in giving thanks to God for his warmth, smile, laugh, and for showing us, in ways large and small, what it looks like to joyfully fulfill our baptismal promise to “respect the dignity of every human being.”
