I’m thrilled to announce that Kaitlin Wells will be Calvary’s next director of children & family ministries, beginning Sunday, August 9. Kaitlin comes to us with a wealth of experience in the formation of young hearts and minds. She’s been an elementary school teacher for nine years, most recently as a beloved first-grade teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School. She has also coordinated a children’s ministry program of more than 250 children in Murfreesboro, and has training and experience working with children with special needs as well.
Over the summer, I asked a group of people who are both volunteers and parents of children in our children’s formation program to help me refine the job description and interview candidates for this position. Their perspective was especially important, with Katherine Bush, associate rector for formation, being away on sabbatical. That group was unanimously excited that Kaitlin is choosing to put her gifts to work with Calvary’s children and families. Her vibrant energy, curiosity, good humor, and passion for the formation of young minds and souls are infectious.
I can’t wait for you to meet her. Just as I can’t wait for Kaitlin to meet the rest of Calvary.

Dear Calvary,
I am delighted and honored to be joining you all as the director of children & family ministries. Throughout my interview process, I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and love shown by each person I have met from Calvary. I believe this is a testament to the heart of the church, and I couldn’t be more eager to join you all.
Though not a Memphis native, I have grown to call Memphis home over the last nine years. Here, I have met my husband, Blake. Here, we welcomed our first child, a son, Drew, in February of this year. And here, I look forward to making a home at Calvary. From an early age, even from my Kindergarten playground, my desire has always been to make God’s love visible and known, so I truly feel the Lord has placed this position perfectly in my path. I cannot wait to meet each of you.
