Calvary bids farewell to Katie Owen as director of finance

Parish Administrator Katie Owen’s last day as a member of the Calvary staff was Friday, June 7. Katie has served as parish administrator faithfully since 2013. During her time here, she has evacuated bees from our bell tower, supervised the cleanup from a flood in our basement, and repaired/replaced the iron fence in front of the church three times. Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what Katie has accomplished during her time here. She has overseen with great acumen the parish finances and the care for our historic building.

Yet, Katie says her favorite thing about working at Calvary has been all of the relationships she has formed with both staff and parishioners. Though it wasn’t part of her initial plan, Katie and her husband John joined Calvary not long after Katie began working here. And since then they have baptized both of their children here. Knowing Katie will still be part of Calvary makes her departure from our staff a little easier. She plans on taking some time to focus on her family.

All finance and operations questions should now be directed to Steve Smith (ssmith@calvarymemphis.org, 901-312-5205), our new director of finance and operations. He has been working with Katie over the last three months and is up-to-date on all parish matters. He might even answer a gardening question or tell you his favorite New Orleans restaurant, too!
