As her last requirement for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree (University of Memphis), Calvary Organist-Choirmaster Kristin Lensch will present a lecture-recital on Adolph Steuterman and Early-Twentieth-Century Organ Repertoire on Sun. Nov. 15, at 4:00 p.m. Consulting the extensive service logs Steuterman kept while serving as Calvary's Organist-Choirmaster, Kristin cataloged over 200 organ works and will describe and demonstrate the type of music the Calvary congregation and Memphis audience heard Steuterman play during the early years of his career, 1921-1924.…

Advent Lessons & Carols

Calvary's Advent Lessons & Carols is a beautiful candlelight service of scripture, poetry, and song on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 5:00 p.m. In addition to exquisite music, it includes poetry readings by Marie Howe, reading her "Annunciation," and Pádraig Ó Tuama reading poems by Ross Gay and Seamus Heaney. Diocesan Christmas Caroling

You may have seen Bishop Phoebe’s announcement last night that in-person worship will be suspended in our diocese at least for the next few weeks, including Christmas services. We support her decision and are deeply grateful for the prayerful, deliberate, and thoughtful way she made it. Calvary’s Christmas worship will be livestreamed at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 5 p.m. on Christmas Day from our beloved chancel into your homes via our Facebook page, YouTube channel, and our website.…

A service of Evensong, sung by four voices, will be offered in Calvary's nave at 5 p.m. In this extraordinary time, Calvary is still offering services with music. Now, more than ever, an opportunity to lean on our faith in word and the beauty of music is essential. The Friends of Music ministry seeks to make it visible by enhancing the sacred music of Calvary’s liturgies, while also opening the doors of Calvary to the larger community of the Mid-South for a variety of concert opportunities.
