All 6-12th grade youth in the Diocese of West Tennessee are invited to Diocesan EYC on January 30, February 27, March 27, and April 24 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Diocesan EYC will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral, starting in Martyr's Hall for dinner and fellowship before ending our evening with Compline in Sister's Chapel. Coffee Hours

Grades 6-12 | Tuesday mornings from 7-8 a.m. and Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m.

Coffee Hours are a great way for youth to start their day or get their dose of the Episcopal youth community in the middle of the week. Whether it’s sharing a topic heavy on their heart or sharing a new meme, it’s always a time of fellowship! Plus, Director of Youth Ministry Jeremy Demarest will buy your coffee. Formation: 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Grades 6-8 | Rite 13 | Third Floor Youth Rooms

6-8th grade students will meet in the Middle School EYC Room (302) from 9:15-10:15 a.m. for Sunday Formation: Rite 13. Rite 13 creates a safe space for middle school youth to explore new ideas and interests using thought-provoking, fun activities, reflection, and discussion. Youth will engage with Bible study, prayer, and service opportunities to explore their faith.


Grades 9-12 | Journey to Adulthood | Third Floor Youth Rooms

9-12th grade students are invited to meet in the High School EYC Room (301) from 9:15-10:15 a.m. for Sunday Formation: Journey to Adulthood (J2A). J2A focuses on critical thinking and responsibility while fostering a connection to the Christian community. During Sunday formation, youth will explore new ways of engaging with scripture and prayer.

Youth as Worship Leaders

There are many ways for Calvary’s youth to serve in Sunday morning worship. Youth are encouraged to acolyte, lector, sing in the choir, usher, and/or help in Children’s Chapel. Below is the list of ministry opportunities and volunteer age requirements. Please contact Jeremy Demarest for further information on how to get involved with these ministries.

Acolyte: 7th–12th grades

Lector: 5th–12th grades

Usher: 6th–12th grades

Music: 1st–12th grades

Children’s Chapel Helper: 5th–12th grades


Sunday Afternoon Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)

Grades 6-12

Following the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service, youth are invited to lunch in the Mural Room from 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. before EYC from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Sunday Afternoon EYC is a fellowship time for youth to learn more about themselves, their relationship with Christ, and the ever-changing, messy world around them. Youth are invited to bring a change of clothes to church for EYC.

Wednesday Evenings


6th–12th Grades—6:15-7:15 p.m.
3rd floor Youth Room

Wednesday night Episcopal Youth Community will meet from 6:15–7:00 in the 3rd floor EYC room after dinner. Wednesday nights are for any youth in grades 6–12 to come together and participate in team-building activities, games, service projects, discussion, and prayer. At 6:55, we will walk together to the Sanctuary for music and Compline starting at 7 p.m. Any and all at Calvary are welcome to join us for Compline.

Children and Youth Ministries Parent Manual

Calvary Episcopal Church’s mission is making God’s love visible in downtown Memphis. We encourage our children and youth to live into this mission as part of a safe and loving community. Contained within this manual, you will find information regarding the Children Ministry and the Youth Ministry’s guidelines, procedures, and code of conduct. The guidelines and procedures are in place to provide safety for all children and youth. Please take the time to read this manual and discuss it with your child. Expectations of parents/guardians, children, youth, and Calvary staff are outlined. Parents/guardians, children, youth, and Calvary staff are responsible for the information contained in this manual. Questions can be directed to the director of children and family ministries and/or the director of youth ministries, or a member of the clergy.

Child Registration Form

Parents/guardians should complete a Child Registration Form for each child at the beginning of the school year. The program director will distribute and maintain forms. If any information changes during the school year, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to inform the program director.
