DESCRIPTION:Director and Music Educator Melissa Warwell leads a rehearsal for the youngest voices of Calvary who are in Kindergarten – 2nd Grade. DESCRIPTION:The Boys and Girls Choir\, made up of students with unchanged voices in grades three and up\, sings semi-monthly at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Using the Voice for Life curriculum established by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM)\, Organist-Choirmaster Kristin Lensch promotes a complete and quality approach to children’s music ministry that is as much a Christian education experience as it is a musical training experience. DESCRIPTION:Both professional singers and auditioned volunteers make up Calvary’s primary group of choristers: the Calvary Choir. The choir sings each week at the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, monthly Evensong\, and offers special liturgical services and concerts during the year. While strongly based in the music of the Anglican church\, their repertoire spans centuries and global traditions\, from plainsong to spirituals. In addition to making music at home\, the Calvary Choir has traveled to England to participate in a week-long choral residency at the Bristol Cathedral. DESCRIPTION:Calvary parishioners and friends are invited to meet at Brooks Museum of Art\, 1934 Poplar Avenue (in Overton Park)\, for a tour of the Black American Portraits exhibit on Sunday afternoon\, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. Featuring more than 100 works\, the exhibition spans more than two centuries and includes nineteenth-century studio photography; portraits from the Harlem Renaissance; images from the Civil Rights\, Black Power\, and Black Lives Matter eras; pictures of Black celebrities and political figures; and artists’ self-portraits. Countering a visual culture saturated with the spectacle of Black pain\, these works instead celebrate joy\, abundance\, and agency. Ticket prices range from $8 – $15. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, Sept. 30\, at 4 p.m.\, we will offer our annual blessing of the animals at Calvary’s Park at the corner of Adams and B.B. King. Come join us to give thanks for all God’s creatures\, great and small.  All leashed or restrained pets are welcome. \nSend names of pets who have died in the last year to Clay Woemmel to be added to the prayers for that day. \nBelly Rubs Basset Rescue will be on hand with free goodies and some items for donations. You can also sign up to volunteer as a transport driver or foster with this great organization. \nStuffed animals are invited to church on Sunday\, Oct. 1\, and Wednesday evening\, Oct. 4.
