SUMMARY:Boys & Girls Choir
DESCRIPTION:The Boys and Girls Choir\, composed of students with unchanged voices in grades three and up\, sings semi-monthly at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Using the Voice for Life curriculum established by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM)\, Organist-Choirmaster Kristin Lensch promotes a complete and quality approach to children’s music ministry that is as much a Christian education experience as a musical training experience. Choristers often become peer leaders over time as they progress through the program. Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Afterward\, they attend Compline in the church until 7:15 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Both professional singers and auditioned volunteers make up Calvary’s primary group of choristers: the Calvary Choir. The choir sings each week at the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, monthly Evensong\, and offers special liturgical services and concerts during the year. While strongly rooted in the music of the Anglican Church\, their repertoire spans centuries and global traditions\, from plainsong to spirituals. In addition to making music at home\, the Calvary Choir travels to England for a week-long choral residency at a cathedral every three years. As we approach America’s 250th year\, what does this secular text have to say to us? \n  \nNovember 23\, The Inner-life and Inner-workings of the Organ\, Jonathan Ambrosino\nFor our recently-completed organ restoration\, Jonathan Ambrosino of Boston directed the project’s artistic side. Raised in an Episcopal choir of men and boys\, Jonathan has spent much of his life researching organs of our exact builder and era. This background allowed him to bring a keen sense of how to get the sound and feel of our Aeolian-Skinner organ closer to its 1935 roots. In this Sunday’s forum\, Jonathan will discuss what that sound is and some of the remarkably low-tech yet detailed ways that sound is achieved. \n  \nNovember 30\, Advent Festival (not in the Chapel\, room TBD)\nJoin us on the Sunday after Thanksgiving for our annual Advent Festival. Wreath-making supplies\, candles\, and some fresh greenery will be provided. To ensure enough greenery for everyone\, participants are also encouraged to bring greenery from their own yards. We look forward to coming together for a time of festive fellowship and creativity!\nWreath-making continues at Coffee Hour; supplies will be available for households to make wreaths to take home. \n  \nDecember 7\, Bishop Phoebe Roaf\nEach year\, Bishop Phoebe visits each parish in the Diocese to confirm new members and to strengthen the connections among the larger Episcopal community. DESCRIPTION:Godly Play is a Montessori-based Christian faith formation program for children created by The Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman\, an Episcopal priest and educator. Adult leaders explore sacred stories of the Bible with children\, which teaches them the language of our faith. Each session includes storytelling\, hands-on participation\, wondering\, reflecting\, prayer\, and creativity. Grades SK-1 meet in Room A. Grades 2-3 meet in Room B. Grades 4-5 meet in Room C. SUMMARY:Children's Chapel
DESCRIPTION:At the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, children in grades JK-2 are invited to follow the banner out of the church to Children’s Chapel\, which is held in the Corner Room adjacent to the nursery. There\, children experience the Liturgy of the Word in an interactive and child-friendly manner. We sing\, pray\, and hear the stories of the Bible. Children are escorted back to church at the time of the Peace to join their families for Communion. All are welcome\, including younger children accompanied by a parent. Older children are invited to take on leadership roles\, such as reading prayers\, leading songs\, and distributing supplies. Please join us!
