DESCRIPTION:Summer of Service is a summer formation series for children and youth in grades K-12 on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. We will complete service projects each week in and around our beloved parish community. Projects in 2025 will include making placemats for RITI\, gardening to beautify our church grounds\, sending cards to hospitalized children\, painting watercolors for the homebound\, and assisting the Altar Guild and Outreach Department. Please join us as we share God’s love through community engagement and serving others! Nathan Brasfield and Jocelyn Busby will serve as leaders and will welcome special guests each week to assist the group in service to our community.

DESCRIPTION:Pentecost Party\nThe Feast of Pentecost is often celebrated as the birthday of the Church\, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles. All are encouraged to wear red and join us for a church birthday celebration in the Calvary Commons after the 10:30 a.m. worship service. \nPentecost\nChristians have come to understand the meaning of Pentecost in terms of the gift of the Spirit. The Pentecost event was the fulfillment of a promise that Jesus gave concerning the return of the Holy Spirit. \nSpeaking in tongues\, a significant effect of receiving the Spirit\, is interpreted by some as symbolizing the church’s worldwide preaching. In the Christian tradition\, Pentecost is now the seventh Sunday after Easter. It emphasizes that the church is understood as the body of Christ\, which is drawn together and given life by the Holy Spirit. Some understand Pentecost to be the origin and sending out of the church into the world. \nThe Day of Pentecost is one of the seven principal feasts of the church year in the Episcopal Church (BCP\, p. 15). The Day of Pentecost is identified by the BCP as one of the feasts that is “especially appropriate” for baptism (p. 312). \nfrom the Episcopal Church website

SUMMARY:Calvary Choir
DESCRIPTION:Both professional singers and auditioned volunteers make up Calvary’s primary group of choristers: the Calvary Choir. The choir sings each week at the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, monthly Evensong\, and offers special liturgical services and concerts during the year. While strongly based in the music of the Anglican church\, their repertoire spans the centuries and global traditions\, from plainsong to spirituals. In addition to making music at home\, the Calvary Choir has traveled to England to participate in a week-long choral residency at the Bristol Cathedral. They are known for both their dedication to and love of music and close camaraderie. Interested singers should contact Organist-Choirmaster Kristin Lensch.

DESCRIPTION:The Boys and Girls Choir\, made up of students with unchanged voices in grades three and up\, sings semi-monthly at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
