DESCRIPTION:Community Ministries provides lunchtime snack bags at the door of the Welcome Inn (82 N. 2nd St.) for our downtown neighbors Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These days and times coincide with the AA meeting at the Welcome Inn held from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday. SUMMARY:Novella Smith Arnold Cromer Memorial Service
DESCRIPTION:Novella Smith Arnold Cromer\, 86\, a longtime Calvary parishioner\, died on Friday\, August 1. \nNovella devoted her life to serving others. At Calvary\, she administered both the Criminal Justice Ministry\, supporting prisoners and their families\, and the Street Ministry\, which provided resources and care for the homeless and urban poor. She also led the AIDS Burial Service\, ensuring dignified funerals for those without means\, and served as a chaplain to children and to those in prison. Through each of these ministries\, Novella extended compassion\, dignity\, and hope to countless lives. \nA celebration of Novella’s life will be held at Calvary on Friday\, Sept. 12\, at 2 p.m.\, with a reception to follow. The service will also be live-streamed on Calvary’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. \nIn lieu of flowers\, donations may be made to the Novella Smith Cromer Scholarship Fund\, Soulsville Foundation\, 926 E McLemore Ave\, Memphis\, TN 38106. \nPlease keep Novella’s daughter\, Monique\, and all of Novella’s family and friends in your prayers in the coming days and weeks.

DESCRIPTION:At the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, children in grades JK-2 are invited to follow the banner out of the church to Children’s Chapel\, which is held in the Corner Room adjacent to the nursery. There\, children experience the Liturgy of the Word in an interactive and child-friendly manner. We sing\, pray\, and hear the stories of the Bible. Children are escorted back to church at the time of the Peace to join their families for Communion. All are welcome\, including younger children accompanied by a parent. Join us for some very hands-on opportunities to practice the art and arts of being church. \nSept. 3: The Art of Flower Arranging with Eric Milner\nBring a small vase from home if you have one! \nSept. 10: Embroidery with Karyn Spence\nWhether you’ve never threaded a needle or want to level up your sewing skills\, come learn from some crafty folks! \nSept. 17:  More Embroidery with Heidi Rupke\nWhether you’ve never threaded a needle or want to level up your sewing skills\, come learn from some crafty folks! \nSept. 24: Knitting with Peg Wahl\nPeg will bring some supplies\, but for those who wish to learn\, it would be best to get size #10 needles at Michael’s\, Hobby Lobby\, or either of the two knit shops in town. Peg will have knit warmers cast on to transfer to your needles. \nOct. 1 & 8: An opportunity to revisit projects from earlier embroidery and knitting sessions and receive a little more guidance and help from the leaders. And folks can still come for the first time\, too!
