DESCRIPTION:5:45 p.m. Agape Meal\n7 p.m. Maundy Thursday Liturgy\n\n  \nOn the night before he died\, Jesus broke bread with his friends and gave us his final mandate: to love another. Our service includes Holy Eucharist and the stripping of the altar. We end in the darkness\, prepared for a long night waiting in Gethsemane. \n  \nCalvary families and friends are invited to gather for a simple Agape Meal in the Great Hall at 5:45.  This meal will include special blessings over the meal and an opportunity to practice the ritual of foot washing as we remember the Last Supper Jesus shared with his friends.  This gathering will conclude around 6:30\, and then we will offer Eucharist in the church at 7:00\, concluding with the Stripping of the Altar.  Worshipers are welcome to join either or both Agape Meal and Maundy Thursday Eucharist. \n  \nChildren ages 3 through second grade are invited to follow the cross during the Sequence Hymn at the 7 p.m. service to a special Children’s Chapel with Holy Eucharist in Room 203. Parents may pick up their children at the end of the service.

DESCRIPTION:10:30 a.m. Stations of the Cross led by the Daughters of the King\n12 p.m. Good Friday Liturgy\n12:45: Way of the Cross through Downtown Memphis\n  \nGood Friday marks the death of Jesus on the cross. This solemn service includes the story of Christ’s passion and times of silence and intercession. The Calvary Choir will offer musical leadership. Calvary Church will remain open for prayers until 3 p.m. \n  \nThe labyrinth will be available in the Great Hall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. \n  \nStations of the Cross: An indoor walk through Calvary’s Stations of the Cross around the nave of the church will be led by the JOY Chapter of the Daughters of the King at 10:30 a.m.\, prior to the liturgy at noon. \n  \nWay of the Cross: After the mid-day Good Friday liturgy\, at approximately 12:45 p.m.\, gather at the Calvary altar to begin praying the Way of the Cross\, which will continue on a walk through our downtown neighborhood. If you choose to join the walk\, dress accordingly\, especially with regard to footwear\, as the walk will be 2-3 miles and will take approximately  2 hours.

The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7. At the conclusion of rehearsal\, they can attend Compline until 7:15 p.m.

Using the Voice for Life curriculum established by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM)\, Organist-Choirmaster Kristin Lensch promotes a complete and quality approach to children’s music ministry that is as much a Christian education experience as it is a musical training experience. Choristers often become peer leaders over time as they progress through the program. Rehearsal is on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Afterward\, they attend Compline until 7:15 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Both professional singers and auditioned volunteers make up Calvary’s primary group of choristers: the Calvary Choir. The choir sings each week at the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, monthly Evensong\, and offers special liturgical services and concerts during the year. While strongly based in the music of the Anglican church\, their repertoire spans centuries and global traditions\, from plainsong to spirituals. In addition to making music at home\, the Calvary Choir has traveled to England to participate in a week-long choral residency at the Bristol Cathedral. Over our lifetimes\, most of us will face some type of mental health challenge – personally\, within our families\, our church community\, our workplaces\, or our neighborhoods. We can faithfully face these challenges by growing our awareness of mental health warning signs and resources for healing and growth. We can also be faithful in helping to increase access for those most in need of mental health services by becoming advocates\, connectors\, and supporters of organizations like Samaritan Counseling Centers of the Mid-South.
