DESCRIPTION:Our nurseries are open weekly on Sundays and at other times for special events. Our caregivers are present on Sundays from 7:45 a.m. to noon. Children aged 0-2 meet in the Infant and Toddler Nursery\, while those aged 3-5 meet in the PK/JK Little Lambs Room. Both are located at the top of the Commons stairway and are adjacent to the family restroom\, which is equipped with a diaper station.

SUMMARY:Soup Sunday
DESCRIPTION:Are you looking for a way to support a Calvary ministry\, but you’re super busy with other commitments? Well\, it only takes one minute to support the Soup Sunday hunger ministry by stopping by the Commons after the 8 a.m. service\, or before and after the 10:30 a.m. service\, to purchase and take home some delicious soup for yourself\, your family\, and/or neighbors and friends. It’s the perfect way to show the community how much you love them. \nIn addition\, everyone is welcome to volunteer for Soup Sunday\, and no cooking skills or long-term commitments are required. We would love to have you join us just once\, or as often as your schedule allows\, and bring a friend or family member of any age; there is always something for everyone to do. For the November 9 Soup Sunday\, soup prep starts at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday\, the 8th\, and we plan to be packaged and cleaned up by noon. However\, if you can’t spare the entire morning\, feel free to join and leave us as your schedule allows. Even arriving as late as 11:00 a.m. for packaging and cleanup would be a big help. Alternatively\, if you prefer to sell soup on Sunday mornings\, we would love your help\, but what’s most important to the success of Soup Sunday is that people purchase soup. \nAnother way to be part of Soup Sunday is to share your favorite recipe with us. When we offer your soup for sale\, we’ll be sure to give you a byline. \nThe soups for November 9 will be: \n\n\n\n\n\nSausage Chowder (recipe shared by Gayle Spence)\nCinderella Soup (a long-time Soup Sunday favorite made with pumpkin)\nNew England Clam Chowder (Recipe shared online by Jacques Pépin)\n\n\n\n\n\nPrices are $12 per quart and $6 per pint. \nFor more information or to share recipes\, please contact David Balling at DLBalling@calvarymemphis.org. \nWe look forward to your support of Calvary’s Soup Sunday ministry. Sometimes we get a glimpse of God and of who God calls us to be. \n  \nSeptember 7\, “What I Did on My Summer Vacation Sabbatical\,” Scott Walters\nWe’ll launch the fall season with some storytelling and reflection from Scott Walters on his sabbatical journeys. \n  \nSeptember 14\, A Conversation with Wesley Rowell\nWesley arrived at Calvary mid-summer and is already deep in the work of this place. Come hear a little bit of his story and how his winding path to faith and church brought him to Memphis. \n  \nSeptember 21\, Spirituality of Giving\nA conversation about how to live generously now and how to continue to give beyond your mortal years. We often avoid conversations about money and death. Come participate in a joyful reflection about these realities that we’ll all navigate. \n  \nSeptember 28\, Wisdom Then & Now\, Catherine Meeks\nDr. Meeks is the author of The Night is Long but Light Comes in the Morning and was the founding director of the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing. Raised in an Episcopal choir of men and boys\, Jonathan has spent much of his life researching organs of our exact builder and era. This background allowed him to bring a keen sense of how to get the sound and feel of our Aeolian-Skinner organ closer to its 1935 roots. DESCRIPTION:Godly Play is a Montessori-based Christian faith formation program for children created by The Rev. Dr. Jerome Berryman\, an Episcopal priest and educator. Adult leaders explore sacred stories of the Bible with children\, which teaches them the language of our faith. Each session includes storytelling\, hands-on participation\, wondering\, reflecting\, prayer\, and creativity. Grades SK-1 meet in Room A. Grades 2-3 meet in Room B. Grades 4-5 meet in Room C. DESCRIPTION:At the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. worship service\, children in grades JK-2 are invited to follow the banner out of the church to Children’s Chapel\, which is held in the Corner Room adjacent to the nursery. There\, children experience the Liturgy of the Word in an interactive and child-friendly manner. We sing\, pray\, and hear the stories of the Bible. Children are escorted back to church at the time of the Peace to join their families for Communion. All are welcome\, including younger children accompanied by a parent. Older children are invited to take on leadership roles\, such as reading prayers\, leading songs\, and distributing supplies. Please join us!

SUMMARY:Holy Eucharist Rite II
DESCRIPTION:The 10:30 a.m. Eucharist attracts a widely varied congregation of all ages\, including a strong contingent of young families. Music is led by the semi-professional Calvary Choir with participation from our Boys and Girls Choir\, St. Cecilia Choir (second grade and younger)\, and the Calvary Ringers handbell choir. \nWe also live-stream our Sunday morning Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.
