An event every week that begins at 6:15 pm on Wednesday, repeating until February 15, 2023
January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15: Making Loss Matter
At every moment of our lives, we experience loss. Some losses are so subtle they go unnoticed, some so overwhelming and cruel they seem unbearable. In painful moments we must make a choice: Will we allow the difficulties we face to become forces of destruction in our lives, or will we find a way to transform our suffering into a source of strength?
We will explore this question in a 6-week study of Making Loss Matter: Creating Meaning in Difficult Times by Rabbi David Wolpe. A theologian with the heart of a poet, he draws on the wisdom of ancient stories and the great rabbis, poets, and philosophers, along with his personal experiences, to find meaning in the midst of loss.
Come join the Rev. Paul McLain as he guides our discussion of this healing book in preparation for Rabbi Wolpe’s appearance at Calvary’s 2023 Lenten Preaching Series.
Copies of the book are available from Paul McLain.
