Calvary Ringers
Calvary’s liturgical five-octave handbell choir, the Calvary Ringers, rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings and performs in select services throughout the year. New members are always welcome new members; the ability to read music is not required. Calvary Ringers are directed by Joseph Powell.
Originally from Mobile, AL, Joseph Powell is a conductor and tenor from Memphis, TN. He holds degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi in music education and choral conducting. Currently, Powell is in his eighth year as Director of Choirs at White Station High School. In addition to his teaching career, Powell is an active performer, appearing with Opera Memphis and the Memphis Symphony Chorus, where he is a rehearsal assistant. He resides in East Memphis with his wife, Samantha, and daughter, Ellis.
