Calvary seeks a professional musician with a degree in organ and/or another related music degree to assist the full-time organist-choirmaster. Calvary’s vibrant music program includes a semi-professional adult choir, two children’s choirs (RSCM), and a handbell choir. Prior experience as organist and accompanist in another church or churches is desired. The ability to play in a variety of styles and improvisatory skills will be expected.
Regular duties include accompanying the 30-member semi-professional Calvary Choir, sharing in playing two Sunday morning services, monthly Evensong, weddings and funerals, and assisting the organist-choirmaster in administering the Friends of Music concert series and music for the Lenten Preaching Series. Conducting sectional rehearsals, services, accompanying children’s choirs as needed, and other duties may be assigned.
This is a 15-20 hr/week salaried position. Compensation, based on experience and abilities, includes continuing education funds with additional stipends for weddings and funerals. Approval for time off is granted by the organist-choirmaster.
