Search Committee for New Rector Appointed

Dear Calvary Community,

For those of you fortunate enough to be in church last Sunday, you were witness to the joyful welcome of the Rev. Buddy Stallings as Calvary’s priest-in-charge. It is evident that Calvary is in excellent hands with Buddy, and we are very fortunate that someone with his experience, skill set and demeanor is available and willing to lead us during our transition.

To quickly begin the search process for a new rector, the vestry has appointed an outstanding committee of parishioners to do this important work. They are Bailey Bethell, Bill Craddock, Betty Jo Dulaney, James Dowd, Hall Gardner, Kathryn Jasper, Katy Leopard, Gwen Owen, Allison Parker, Matt Seltzer, Shannon Tucker, and Gary Wilson. The vestry feels this group well represents Calvary’s congregation and that they will diligently and prayerfully perform the duty of securing the next great leader of our church.

The vestry and search committee expect the search process to be completed by early 2017. We want to remind everyone that, in order for the committee to work most effectively, confidentiality is critical. As much as we would all like to know who are being considered as candidates and what “favorites” are emerging, we must resist the urge to ask the committee members these questions. We will trust in them and God to send us the right person. However, if you have a suggestion for a candidate to be considered, please pass that name to the committee.

During this transition, my hope is that all members of Calvary will remain as active and supportive as ever of our church’s worship services, programs, and activities. We will make certain that Calvary continues making God’s love visible in downtown Memphis.
